Letter From the Editor

DStripped Magazine is the result of many conversations with talented people who were struggling to get their work showcased in popular publications. Because these aspiring artists and small business owners typically put revenue back into their product instead of large marketing campaigns, placing ads in mainstream publications can be almost impossible. So how do small companies and artists with great talent and limited budgets get recognized?

I realized that we, as a society, allow ‘these’ publications to define what is “talented” and “creative.”  I asked myself, “Do people really care about the struggles of celebrities who have unlimited disposable incomes and can fly to St. Barts or other exotic retreats on a whim?”  I also questioned if we are tired of being enticed by slick magazine covers only to find that it’s filled with meaningless ads instead of meaningful content ... I knew that people desired more, so I decided it was time to create a publication that would highlight real people and all types of artistry based on creativity and identifiable style – not their budget.

In October 2010, DStripped Magazine, www.dstrippedmagazine.com, made its online debut. Since then, I have had the opportunity to meet everyday people who have intriguing stories to tell, independent fashion designers anxious to display their line, entertainers looking for their big break and photographers yearning to expose their unique style. Their passion inspires me to see the world differently, take chances, and chase forgotten dreams. I also believe that we all have an interesting story or talent that others can relate to and draw inspiration from.

DStripped Magazine is different, stripping away the marketing facade to reveal real stories about real people ... Enjoy!
